Best Dress Ever
Happy New Year!
Jodi is my sister that is a Snapsister. I'm Tami, her oldest sister. Jodi asked me to guest blog Jon and Caitlin's wedding. {insert squeal}
The bride's Mom, Leslie is a dear friend. She volunteers for me at the Lynden Pioneer Museum as a docent. Besides being Jodi's sister I work at the local museum and I am a wife, a mom and a blogger at theladyinthestonehouse.
I got to know Caitlin because she stopped in at the museum during her Mom and Marjean's shift. We knew about Caitlin and Jon meeting, dating, falling in love and their engagement. Honestly, I think Leslie, Marjean and I knew that Caitlin had fallen in love with Jon before she realized it herself! Jon and Caitlin planned a short engagement, which I happen to think is brilliant. Sometimes wedding planning goes on too long. Jon and Caitlin wanted a ceremony with their families and a reception for extended family and friends.
Caitlin asked me to go with Leslie and her to shop for the wedding dress. I was so honored and excited! Because everyone knows that you don't just walk into a bridal salon and browse. There has to be a bride to be with you. Leslie and I walked straight to the gowns and touched them. Because we could! Caitlin said yes to the dress at Belle Bridal in Bellingham. Before the wedding I kept telling Jodi that Caitlin's dress was amazing. On the wedding day I got a text from Jodi confirming that yes, the bride's dress was gorgeous.
Caitlin and Leslie both looked beautiful and so happy it made my heart hurt. Dad looks pretty pleased too. First Jon and Caitlin got hitched and then had their photographs taken at Berthusen Park where it was COLD.
Caitlin borrowed my Grandma's fur coat. She wasn't too sure about the fur but the Northeast wind convinced her. The dusting of snow might have helped too. Snow on a wedding day makes it even more magical and Jon looked very handsome and in love with our girl! Sigh. Her dress, isn't it gorgeous?
Jon and Caitlin's reception was a brunch with a lot of pretty flowers, vintage goodness, a photo booth and activities for all of the little kids. Caitlin's family loves breakfast so it was a great idea to have brunch. The adults had fun too!
Leslie sewed the buntings using vintage fabric and Caitlin made the guest book. I agreed with one little guest. I believe I wrote something to the effect of, Congratulations etc etc... and then BEST.DRESS.EVER.
Really though, it was the BeST. DaY. EvEr. for a wonderful couple. I'm so happy they found each other. And that they found my sister that is a Snapsister to take such beautiful photos of their special day.
And they lived happily ever after...
